Mental Models vs. Market Models: I-O Psychology and Economics in People Analytics

  • Loews Atlanta Hotel 1065 Peachtree Street Northeast Atlanta, GA, 30309 United States (map)

Industrial-organizational (I-O) psychologists dominate the people analytics field relative to other specialties. However, more economists are entering the field, especially from labor economics - formerly known as personnel economics).

How do each field’s models contribute to people analytics? Where are they aligned, and where do they conflict? Which field’s paradigms are more relevant to people analytics? How do psychometrics and econometrics relate to one another?

These are some questions the panel of eminent I-O psychologist and labor economist people analytics practitioners will debate.

Amit Mohindra is the organizer and moderator. He is a labor economist who saw the light with psychology late in his career, but not too late.
